Every year, somewhere between 150 to 200 volunteers prepare and deliver 700 homemade Thanksgiving Day meals free of charge, no questions asked to people living on South and Central Whidbey. Meal recipients include the elderly, the ill and disabled, low-income and unemployed people, and others working on the holiday. For those on the north end of the island, North Whidbey Community Harvest will be providing a Thanksgiving Day meal at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge. To volunteer or request a meal delivery, call 360-240-1477. If you have no place to go on Thanksgiving, there is a warm and inviting place to go for a FREE thanksgiving day dinner for Whidbey Island. Through the help with over 350 volunteers, this years Community Harvest Dinner is being held at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge off of Hwy 20. The volunteer Mobile Turkey Unit is accepting requests for free, home-delivered Thanksgiving dinners to people on South and Central Whidbey for a 14th year of operation.
