In 1963, Daddy Bruce Randolph held a free barbecue at his restaurant in Denver's Five Points neighborhood on Thanksgiving because he didn't want anyone in his community to go hungry. In 1963, "Daddy" Bruce Randolph fed over 200 people outside his barbecue restaurant in Five Points. Now his legacy continues as the Epworth Foundation began hosting the Denver Feed A Family event. DENVER (KDVR) — The annual Daddy Bruce Randolph Thanksgiving meal handout is set to happen on Saturday, but the organization still needs to raise a good chunk of change before then. The Daddy Bruce Legacy Foundation is asking for the community’s help as it prepares for its 22nd Annual Daddy Bruce Denver Feed-a-Family Thanksgiving meal giveaway. By the 1980s, Daddy Bruce’s free Thanksgiving meal celebrations would serve tens of thousands of people each year. He also received help from other organizations and was able to distribute clothing to those lacking warm clothes for the winter. The 2024 Denver Feed-A-Family project, led by the Epworth Foundation, has officially begun! This year’s theme, "One Community, One Family," reflects our dedication to nourishing our city and embracing the diversity that makes it thrive. The Denver Feed-A-Family program will be distributing food boxes Nov. 19, but the organization still needs some financial help.
