Volunteers deliver frozen turkeys and Thanksgiving meal packages to guests arriving to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s annual Great ThanksGiving Project, in Bridgeport, Conn. Nov. 20, 2024. Long lines formed at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater as people turned out for "The Great Thanksgiving Project" -- a three-day event running until Friday. The nonprofit gave away 5,000 turkeys, along with bags full of stuffing, cranberry sauce and everything else required for an old-fashioned holiday meal. The Bridgeport Rescue Mission's Great Thanksgiving Project has begun ahead of the upcoming holiday. Organizers gave away turkeys and the fixings Thursday at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheatre. Can you imagine Thanksgiving without a TURKEY and FIXINGS? Neither can we. This year, Bridgeport Rescue Mission is aiming to serve more than 7,000 families in 6 different cities in Connecticut — including Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford, New Haven, Ansonia, and Waterbury! Our Great Thanksgiving Project is still on! We are going to do it different this year to make sure everyone’s safe. Join us in November for our outdoor drive-thru experience! Bridgeport Rescue Mission will be holding their Great Thanksgiving Project next week at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater (500 Broad St, Bridgeport). It is their BIGGEST event of the year providing 5,000 families in need with a turkey and a bag of fixings for a home cooked meal.
