The African Community Center of the DC Metro is hosting a traditional American Thanksgiving for refugees from around the world on November 20 at 3 PM. Volunteers can bring a dish of their choosing—main course, appetizer or dessert—for the Thanksgiving table. We rely on weekday teams of 12-15 volunteers to operate our soup kitchen and serve 400+ meals each day. Our Daily Bread volunteers choose the weekday that best fits their availability, with an ongoing commitment to volunteer 8AM-Noon on their day each week. Your local soup kitchen, food pantry or food bank rely on volunteers to help make the holidays special for families in need. Whether it’s serving meals on Christmas Day or preparing holiday meal boxes - you can make a difference. Food for All’s Thanksgiving days of operation are Nov. 25, 26 and 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drivers are needed for all three days, and there’s also room for a few more baggers on Nov. 26 and 27.... DC Central Kitchen volunteers work alongside our devoted front-line staff and Culinary Job Training students to cut, chop, peel and prep fresh produce as we prepare balanced meals for our community. Volunteer shifts are available for registration up to 3 months in advance.
